Job Description

We’re hiring a Chief of Staff at Nucleus.

MUST be ready to build. No task is too small.

Nucleus is not a traditional search firm. It is a platform at the convergence of community, company building, and capital. You will work directly with the founder as a true right hand. The role blends execution and strategy. You will manage priorities, run special projects, and scale the platform behind some of the most exciting funds in venture.

Nucleus is one of only five firms that hire VCs at the partner level with regularity, and the only one built exclusively for emerging and breakout funds. This is a 1 to 2 year sprint. If you commit, you will leave with a network that includes top investors, allocators, founders, and operators.

The role covers four core functions:

Founder Shadow

• Shadow the founder across all areas of the business: search, venture fund, fund of funds, special projects
• Triage inbound, protect time, and keep communication clear
• Capture and execute on founder ideas (PM)

Strategy + Execution

• Lead special projects, platform builds, and experiments
• Drive the LP network, media flywheel, and podcast
• Act as a thought partner on pitches and productizing how we work
• Help support code red research when needed (research team will support)

Ops + Build

• Run point on systems, workflows, and process
• Execute and ship.
• Support candidate and client pipelines across searches
• Keep the firm humming behind the scenes

Community

• Be able to walk into any room, anywhere in the world, and be an excellent reflection of Nucleus
• Operate with our values at the core, including not being an asshole
• Help curate a top decile technical community of rising star investors and the best startup talent exploring paths into VC or angel investing
• Work with founding GPs, top quartile VCs, leading allocators, top founders, and technical talent graduating post 2020
• Help design and host world class events with guest lists that are highly thoughtful and intentional

You might be:

• Ideal: fresh out of school with range, drive, and good instincts, plus a baseline understanding of the venture landscape
• An early career CoS or biz ops associate ready for more ownership
• A junior VC who wants to be in the rooms with the top minds in venture (we work with the consensus top firms in the world)
• Data Analyst / SWE / Technical athlete who has the ability to be social.
• A former founder or startup generalist who thrives in ambiguity

Location

SF is ideal. NYC is good. Hybrid by design. Expect regular working sessions at Shack15 and time in some of the most sought after rooms in venture, including partnership meetings, events, and dinners. Ideal if open to living in NYC for 1-3mo to meet all of the NYC talent on behalf of Nucleus.
