The Kansas City Area Development Council (KCADC) is a private, nonprofit organization focused on promoting economic growth in the 18-county, two-state Greater Kansas City region. The mission of KCADC is to engage the world to invest in the One KC region. KCADC attracts new companies and talent, enhances awareness of the metro's assets, and brands the KC region as a prime business and lifestyle location. Additionally, KCADC supports all regional communities and investors and facilitates the relocation and expansion process for companies.

Role Description

The primary objective of this position is to compile, develop, and complete RFIs for all business development project submittals. This role also serves as KCADC’s main point of contact for real estate assets in the region, providing timely, actionable information that supports the organization’s mission of driving job and wealth creation through project success. Success in this position requires maintaining expert knowledge of regional real estate assets and data sources, while proactively anticipating the needs of both the organization and its clients.

Primary Responsibilities

  • In partnership with project managers, manage the RFI submittal process.
  • Actively lead the department with real estate information for business development projects and economic development efforts of community partners.
  • Prepare data analysis and insights using industry expertise to inform KCADC initiatives.
  • Build and sustain relationships with over 30 real estate brokerage firms and more than 50 community partners to serve as the internal expert on Kansas City real estate. This includes, but is not limited to, monthly and/or quarterly meetings with KCADC investor brokerage firms, one-on-one broker meetings, building tours, community tours, etc.
  • Coordinate and manage real estate tours related to project site visits, as requested.
  • Engage with project leaders to provide expertise on project site visits and site consultant visits, both in-and-out of the market.
  • Work with LocationOne, RESimplifi, and real estate firms to ensure excellent quality of real estate data.
  • Attend real estate and research meetings or conferences to stay current on market trends, and regularly update the business development team.
  • Represent the business development team at events attended by consultants and KCADC investors, as needed.
  • Provide support for business development and KCADC as required.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with the Senior Director, Research, engage with KCADC community investor partners to provide information, and to enhance our presence within the community as a valued partner.
  • Support business development with production and maintenance of information products, including but not limited to: CRM expertise including projects, real estate, consultants and investors, etc.
  • Be actively engaged in a regional real estate peer networking group, similar to CREW Kansas City, or other entity, as KCADC’s primary leader in real estate.

Education, Experience and Skills Required

  • College degree in appropriate field or equivalent experience required.
  • Must be highly organized and dedicated to providing accurate information, with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and knowledge of business etiquette. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, with strong competence in accessing, manipulating, and storing data across all platforms.
