Role and Responsibilities

This is an intermediate level position involving technician work in highway materials testing and quality assurance. General activities include some or all the following: logging and preparing samples for testing; routinely performing intermediate test procedures with minimal supervision; entering test data into the appropriate reporting software program or database; analyzing test data; extracting test data and preparing detailed reports and correspondence; and communicating with District and Contractor personnel. This position will be working in the Structural Materials Lab Unit. Applicants should be skilled in using engineering tools, instruments and equipment including computers and computer software. They should possess the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, develop and maintain good working relationships, and routinely lift up to 50 pounds.

Specific duties include:

• Log samples into MAC and prepare them for testing.
• Perform intermediate testing of concrete materials.
• Review test data, enter test data into MAC, and technical reports as needed.
• Perform maintenance, calibration, and verification of laboratory testing equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Organized and highly motivated

• Data entry and quality review experience

• Specific computer skills, Outlook Email, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

• Technical writing skills.

• Basic mechanic skills to troubleshoot equipment issues.

• Be able to multi-task and work well with others or individually to meet common goals.
